Where Do I Begin?
The old adage “just start where you are” is full of wisdom and even some hope. Life throws a lot of curveballs and can at times seem most unfair. Questions seem to echo through the chambers of the heart with few answers. Is there hope?
The story of the women at the well has profound treasures of hope and truth for those of us who are, as the world might say, broken and unfixable. In John 4:22–23 Jesus says,
“You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people, the Father seeks to be His worshippers.”
NASB1995
What exactly is He saying? He is saying that he wants us to love Him with our heart, to come to Him with our questions, knowing that He is The Way, The Truth and The Life (John 14:6).
YES, there is tremendous hope in Jesus! Pain is not easy, but there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel.
Be honest with where you are when you come to Him with your heart. Remember, it is not about skill or a place, but about a relationship. Honesty is important because we need to come to Him in truth. You might say, but He already knows. Yes, He does, but it is necessary for us to discover what’s going on inside our hearts to experience true freedom.
Please join me in taking a longer look at John 4. After you read, here are some questions to ponder:
- 1) Where are you avoiding being honest?
- 2)Would you be willing to begin to open your heart and let Jesus speak His words of life to your soul?
